New Candids

Wow Kirsten is really showing her pretty face these days and she looks really happy too! Maybe it is that Justin guy who makes our girl so happy? But eitherway I have added candids from yesterday where she was first seen with a friend in a black dress (gorgeous btw) and later in a green dress (also gorgeous).

DUNST BANNED WRITER FROM FILM SET OVER ACTING ‘SNUB’

Hollywood actress KIRSTEN DUNST banned a writer from the set of her new movie after he allegedly criticised her acting ability.
British novelist Toby Young wrote the book on which the actress’s new film - How to Lose Friends + Alienate People - is based, and visited the set on several occasions.
And on his second visit, Young made comments regarding Dunst’s performance to a producer - and it led to the actress asking movie bosses to bar him from the studio.
Young says, “She overheard me giving the producer a ‘note’ on her performance in a particular scene. At the time, I didn’t think of it as a criticism, more as a helpful bit of advice, and the producer took it in that spirit.
“But Kirsten overheard this exchange and interpreted it as a complaint about her acting ability. It was after this, apparently, that she took Bob (Weide, the director) to one side and asked if I could be kept at arm’s length in future.
“Bob carried out this edict with a good deal of tact. I didn’t realise it, but this was, in effect, Bob carrying out Kirsten’s instructions.”

‘Shooting Stars’ at Camelot

Palm Springs ShortFest debuted an element of movie-making Saturday it hadn’t shown off before.

Jessica Biel and Kirsten Dunst walked down a press line in front of the Camelot Theatres to promote their short films screening in the festival’s “Shooting Stars” program, also featuring films with actors or directors such as Matthew Modine, Tony Shaloub and Kate Hudson.

There wasn’t a red carpet, but a handful of journalists snapped pictures and interviewed the stars as filmgoers entered the theater.

“You’re so polite,” Biel said to the media just minutes before her program was due to begin.

Biel, who received the feature film festival’s Rising Star, Female Award in 2006 for her role in “The Illusionist,” wore a grayish single-shoulder strap dress to play up the natural beauty she played down in her film, “Hole in the Paper Sky,” in which she wore glasses and a smock as an assistant in animal experiments.

Biel told reporters that her boyfriend, singer Justin Timberlake, was inside the movie theater before the film started.

He was then seen quietly leaving before the movie let out.

Dunst, who starred with former Palm Springs resident Tobey Maguire in the “Spiderman” movies, wore a grayish mini-dress over short shorts as she arrived to support her 13-minute film, “Welcome.”

Dunst, who made her directorial debut with “Welcome,” opted to direct because she felt it was time to take that step after growing up as a film actress.

“My friend Bryce (Dallas Howard) had done it, and Gwyneth Paltrow and a lot of people I really care about had done it,” she said. “It was a nice platform to start my — hopefully — directing career.”

Biel, besides co-starring in “Hole in the Paper Sky,” was making her producing debut with the 34-minute film, which is long for a short.

“We had such a hard time cutting it down, our script was so good,” she said. “It actually was a problem because it hasn’t been accepted into a handful of different things because of the length. It’s been one of our hurdles.”

Biel and Dunst had something else in common with their films — actor Jason Clarke, who stars in both of their shorts, but didn’t come to ShortFest.

“I know nothing about Kirsten’s film,” Biel said. “Is Jason Clarke starring in her film too? What? It’s unbelievable! He is so good. I didn’t know that!”

How to lose favour with Kirsten Dunst: ask if she’s in love with you yet

Every Friday for the next seven weeks The Guardian will be running a video diary by Simon Pegg. Here is a little part of the introduction by Simon where he meantions Kirsten (clearly he’s a fan of Kirsten).

I’d been informed of Kirsten Dunst’s involvement at the beginning of the year whilst on the Hot Fuzz press tour of the US. We crossed paths in LA a week or so later whilst she was on Webslinger press duties at the Four Seasons Hotel. I liked her immediately. She was friendly and unassuming and got on well with Nick Frost, which is usually my benchmark for judging people.

We became good friends during the shoot. She is the product of that odd collision between wisdom and youth. An actress since she was three years old, she demonstrates experience and professionalism, coupled with a healthy understanding of the nature of the business. She is also one of the most instinctively gifted actresses I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I’m a fan. Does it show?

And then the sweet/weird/strange story about Tobey Young and our Kirsten.

Early in the shoot, Toby approached Kirsten on set and asked if she had fallen in love with him yet, after which he proceeded to give her a performance note. This might have been charming if they had been formally introduced but they hadn’t. As it was, I believe her response was an understandable, “Who the fuck’s this guy?” Bob told me that he had received an email from Toby that night saying, “It’s going to be really difficult for me to come on set and not get involved.” Bob sent him a reply saying that there was an easy solution to that problem. We didn’t really see Toby on set again after that.

You can read the entire introduction and watch the first episode of the video diary here.

Dunst Rules Out Broadway

Actress Kirsten Dunst has ruled out a career on Broadway - because she is terrified of singing live.
The 26-year-old showed off her vocal talents for her role in the third Spider-Man film - but pre-recorded a song for fear of performing in front of the cast and crew on-set.
And she insists it is her apprehension over her singing abilities that keep her from starring in musical theatre.
She says, “Singing in the movie was fun because I got to record the song, and then I lip-synched to my own voice because I’m scared to sing in front of people in real life.
“I don’t have it in me. I’d do it but not professionally or anything like that. I mean, not on a Broadway stage, that’s for sure.”
